Image
Hello Families,  Here is your November Math game to play at home with your child this Month. There is game boards for each game and a description on how to play each game. Playing this game with your child at home helps to further their understanding as well as gives you a chance to have fun as a family.  Grade 1 Game  Here is the description on how to play this game as well as the game board. If you do not a have a printer you could make your own game board. If you don't have a spinner from another game you could use a bottle or anything that will spin around the house.  Grade 2 Game  Here is the math game for the grade 2's that helps the students learn and practice addition and subtraction. If you cant print off the board you can still play or try and make one on your own. You will need something to cover up the numbers. You could use Leggo or coins. Anything small enough to cover it.

Remembrance Day

Hello Families, On November 10 we will be celebrating Remembrance Day. We will be having a short video assembly on that day. Remembrance Day is a day where we mark the sacrifice of the many who have fallen in the service of their country, and to acknowledge the courage of those who still serve.   One of the most important things to remember is that many of those who served were not much older than a grade 9 student. Some of these men and women left high school and university to fly planes and man warships. Many stormed beaches, and fought in bunkers, and many did not make it to the age of 21.  They had bright futures, but they left the excitement, promises of graduation and sharing good times at home to serve. They understood that this would put their lives at risk, but they went anyway.  They left family and friends, jobs and schools...and off they went.   Remembrance Day is the time to honor those who have left homes and family and friends, and those who hav...

Pumpkin Study

Image
Hello families,  This week we have been doing a pumpkin study. In writing and science we are learning to use sentence starters and our senses to add detail to our writing. We touched, smelt, looked, heard and tasted pumpkin seeds. Then we wrote about what we felt, heard, tasted ect.  In math we have been learning to count to 100. We took out our pumpkin seeds and counted them on the number line to see how many seeds each pumpkin had.  In Art, we have been focusing on texture we painted our pumpkins to go into the class pumpkin patch and we also did a drawing and sketch of our pumpkins. We were able to bring everything we have learned together to study these pumpkins.  Have a wonderful weekend.  Ms. Youngblood

Halloween October 29, 2020:    Students are welcome to wear a costume to school on Oct. 29 , 2020. We ask that all students do not wear a mask or bring any accessories (swords, staffs, shields, etc.) to go with their costume. Costumes should be easy to move in as students will still participate in gym on Thursday.    Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we ask that parents do not send any items (food, prizes, pencils, erasers, etc.) to share with the class at this time.    Some activities your child’s class may  participate in include learning about pumpkins, carving or decorating a pumpkin with their class, walking through our school ‘Pumpkin Patch’, counting pumpkin seeds, writing about pumpkins, watching the great pumpkin charlie brown etc., throughout the week. We look forward to learning together as we get ready for this exciting time of the year. A special thank you to our School Council who purchased a pumpkin for each class! Please let me ...
